「空間認識力」という言葉を聞いたことはありますか？ 幼児教育や小学校受験、算数の学習などで耳にすることが増えてきた言葉ですが、 「そもそも空間認識力って何？」 「どうやって育てればいいの？」 と疑問に思う方も多いのではないでしょうか。 実は、私たちが日常生活の中で何気なく行っている「物の位置や形を把握する」「頭の中で向きを変えて考える」といったことにも、空間認識力が関係しています。 そして、幼児期に空間認識力を育てる遊びのひとつが、積み木遊びです。 積み木は、ただ高く積み上げるだけのおもちゃではありません。 「どう置いたら崩れないかな？」 「この形を横から見たらどうなるかな？」 「この積み木を回転させたら、どんな向きになるかな？」 と考えながら遊ぶことで、自然と空間について考える機会が生まれます。 今回は、空間認識力とは何か、積み木遊びとどのような関係があるのか、そして小学校受験や算数の学習にどうつながっていくのかをわかりやすくご紹介します。
